Sterling designed this 12 Gauge shell for big game – hence its undeniably powerful slug. The shell’s 1-5/32 ounce (1.15 oz or 506 grain) projectile erupts at a muzzle velocity of 1,312 fps, at which rate it can transfer over 1,900 ft lbs of energy. Even at several dozen yards it retains enough power to quickly topple an elk or a more dangerous beast.
This shell’s slug is rifled. That makes it the right pick for a smoothbore shotgun, as the slug’s grooves promote safer, cleaner passage down the barrel and also give it clearance through a variety of choke diameters. Sterling’s slug is trailed by a blue plastic wad that is designed to collapse during ignition, thus reducing the amount of recoil the shooter experiences.
This Turkish-made ammo features non-corrosive primers and clean burning powder, as well as high brass-plated heads and clear plastic hulls. Whether you’re hunting or defending your life, you won’t have to worry about packing too little firepower when this slug shell is nestled in your chamber.
