I bought this Geneva (Breeches) Bible because I thought that the handwritten Title Page was super pretty. Normally I like to remove anything that isn't original. I just couldn't bring myself to separate this (probably 200+ year old) handwritten replacement page. It really adds character to this Bible. This example is bound with the Psalmes, The Apocrypha, and a Concordance.
This one is missing a few pages. There are some light stains, foxing, pen marks, writing, small tears, the occasional page repair, and the such that you'd expect from a 420+ year old antique book. I had this example professionally rebound in full English calfskin hand-dyed leather to give it a period-correct binding and cover. This has been hand-sewn and has silk head and tail bands. Truly a gorgeous English Bible that predates the King James Version. It was not cheap to have this Bible bound this wonderfully. Photographs don't do this thing justice. You will LOVE it the second you pick it up.
This example is totally solid and you could read it daily if you wanted. I enjoy having these preserved like this. I feel like we are doing our part to preserve these precious artifacts of our faith for hundreds of years to come.
I buy these for page quality and shelf quality. I like to have copies that present really well, are readable, and look really handsome on display. This example more than exceeds those requirements for me. This Bible will look awesome on display on your bookshelf.
